0005 Museum pavilion “Light building”, Rotterdam, NL
The traveling museum pavilion is a self-contained white box sized fifteen by four by six metres. The pavilion is constructed out of limited edition colourless standard Dutch beer crates. Since the beer crates are translucent, light can fall through the load-bearing walls, creating an almost sacral space. The filtered light is perfect to exhibit objects of art. The building is extremely cost-efficient, costing only €55,-/m³. It is also very flexible in construction and is capable of being erected in one single day by six people.
