0026 Nam June Paik Museum, Kyonggi, KR
The most important aspect of a museum are light and space, with neutral, diffuse daylight illuminating adequately sized exhibitions rooms. The design for the Nam June Paik museum is in fact a large exhibition hall enclosed by translucent walls and ceilings. The one hundred twenty meter long museum is built with pre-cast double polycarbonate walls that offers perfect light and climate conditions inside. The museum runs parallel with the slope, creating a depot underneath the main exhibition hall. The form of the hall is not related to traditional museum buildings but seek to be a ‘captured landscape’ covered by a ‘sky of dimmed light’.
