0074 John Paul II centre, Krakow, PL
Throughout history religion is one of the keystones of polish national identity and has developed into a contemporary mass cultural phenomenon. The core idea of the project for the new centre of John Paul II is to create a huge amphitheatre for religious events with ten thousands of visitors. The amphitheatre will be enclosed with a museum, a conference centre and a multifunctional foyer. The whole complex will be covered with an enormous translucent roof of one-hundred-fourty by one hundred meter with a golden aluminium cladding.
