Atelier Kempe Thill was selected to work on a new university project for the Rheydter Strasse campus of the FH Niederrhein Möchengladbach, Germany. The project consists of two parts. A factory hall from the start of the 20th century listed as a monument will be carefully restored according to new environmental standards and transformed into an open and flexible learning landscape for the textile industry. A new experimental machine hall will be added to it. This new house consists in a wooden construction cladded with regional recycled bricks. This reduces the CO-2 impact of the project to an acceptable minimum. Both projects are connected by a newly designed green park which will form the spatial centre of the campus. The project is executed in collaboration with Thörner Kaczmarek Architekten Düsseldorf, Germany.
