0275 Droogdokken site, Antwerp, BE
Atelier Kempe Thill won the invited competition for the development of the dry docks in Antwerp. The site is part of the Droogdokken island that will be transformed into a green public park and function as a link between the inner city and the harbour on the river Scheldt. The impressive industrial site with its nine dry docks and two important historic workshop buildings will be transformed into a new public venue relating to various maritime activities. A new visitors centre of the Antwerp harbour will be built there. The existing building will host a storage for a maritime collection, offices for the harbour, spaces for several youth organisations and restaurants.
